General Manager Update, 19th March 2026
Welcome to my latest update from behind the scenes at Castle View
This week, rather than focus too much on our events (which, of course, remain a key part of the amazing lifestyle we enjoy at Castle View), I want to share some of the detail ,and the hard work, that goes on behind the scenes……the bits that our homeowners, families and visitors don’t always see….
When a Simple Rose Is Not So Simple….
One of my favourite parts of our recent Valentine’s celebration was something most people only saw at the very end of the process: a rose, a chocolate and a short poem arriving at their door.
On the surface it looked simple – a small bag, a kind message, a thoughtful gesture – but like most things that feel effortless, it took a lot of quiet teamwork to make it happen.
Sharon, our chef, started the ball rolling by sourcing and purchasing all the roses, making sure they looked fresh and felt special rather than “just another” supermarket bunch. Mel from Events took charge of the chocolates and the way everything was put together, so that opening the little bag felt like opening a tiny gift rather than receiving something mass‑produced.
I played a small part by tracking down the net bags we needed to hold everything – not a glamorous job, but an essential one if we wanted the idea to work. Meanwhile, Tracey and Sarah from the bar and front desk put their heads together to come up with the poem, then printed, rolled and tied each one into a scroll.
Finally, once everyone else had gone home, Lawrence, our night manager, walked the corridors and delivered the bags to every apartment.
By the time homeowners found them the next morning, all of that work was invisible – as it should be.
What mattered was the feeling: that someone had thought of you, taken the time to write a few words and left something at your door.
It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child; I am increasingly convinced it takes a team to run a village too. Behind every small gesture at Castle View, there is usually a group of people planning, preparing and quietly making sure it all comes together.
Welcome to Castle View…behind the scenes of a ‘move‑in’
Moving home can feel overwhelming, especially if you are doing it later in life. One of our main aims at Castle View is to take as much of that pressure away as possible, so that new homeowners can focus on the excitement of a fresh start rather than the stress of cleaning, fixing and organising…..this was highlighted recently when we welcomed a couple of new residents…
Preparing the apartment
Before anyone moves in, our teams go through the apartment from top to bottom. Everything is cleaned thoroughly, checked and tested – from appliances and heating to light bulbs and blinds – so it feels fresh, safe and ready to live in from day one. We think of it less as “handing over a property” and more as welcoming someone into a home that is already prepared for them.
Thinking about the details
We also pay attention to the small details that make arrival easier: clear instructions where they are needed, simple information on how things work, and a space that feels calm and inviting rather than like a building site. The idea is that homeowners and their families are not greeted by boxes, dust sheets or unfinished jobs, but by a clean, comfortable apartment they can start arranging straight away.
Support on moving day
On move‑in day itself, our team is on hand to help – from welcoming removal companies, to answering questions and offering practical support as furniture and belongings are put in place. For some people that means a lot of hands‑on help; for others it is simply the reassurance that there is someone nearby if needed.
The result is that new homeowners can walk through the door knowing the hard work has already been done in the background. Instead of worrying about cleaning, repairs or logistics, they can focus on unpacking at their own pace, meeting neighbours and beginning to enjoy life at Castle View.
Only ever a snapshot
