Life at Castleview Retirement Living encompasses events and fun classes. We also focus on holistic well-being through mindfulness sessions, providing tools to aid in relaxation, focus, and emotional resilience. For mental stimulation, we host a variety of clubs such as book discussions, puzzle-solving groups, and other activities designed to engage creativity and critical thinking. These sessions encourage lifelong learning and social interaction, key components of a vibrant retirement lifestyle.

Meet our Physio

Introducing Julian Metaxa

My name is Julian Metaxa, I have worked as a physiotherapist for about 12 years, both abroad and in the UK.

I specialise in physiotherapy for older adults, and I am passionate in helping people remain active and fit, helping them live their best possible life.

The focus of older adult physiotherapy is to improve quality of life, maximise independence and prevent falls.

Falls in people over 65 are one of the biggest mortality risks, recently overtaking heart attacks. This is why it is very important to do everything we can to prevent them.

At Castle View, staying active is about feeling confident, capable, and supported.

In this short film, we introduce Julian, who leads our wellness and physiotherapy sessions. With a calm, tailored approach, Julian works closely with homeowners to help maintain mobility, build strength, and support everyday independence.

This is just one of the ways we support wellbeing as part of daily life at Castle View.

Physiotherapy can make a real difference to how you move and feel day to day.

In this video, homeowner Renee, shares her experience of taking part in sessions at Castle View, and the positive impact it’s had on her confidence, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Alongside Renee’s story, we hear from Julian on why regular, tailored movement plays such an important role in later life.

Keeping you active

Why Physio?

Physiotherapy can help with pain management from various injuries and conditions:

  • Musculoskeletal physiotherapy;
  • Neuro rehabilitation for people with Parkinson’s disease, Stroke and MND
  • Mobility, strengthening and balance training for falls prevention
  • Post surgery rehabilitation e.g. total hip replacement, knee replacement or back operation.

Everyone over 65 should engage in regular exercise and invest in their health so they can maintain a good quality of life. It is recommended that you should have 30 min of moderate activity every day, this can be either by taking a walk outside, doing your housework or going to an exercise class.

Julian’s class runs every Friday at 10am, where he focuses on improving mobility, balance and strength to prevent falls and maximise your independence.

Homeowners can enjoy the first class free of charge.
