As we continue to forge new relationships in our local community, and rekindle old ones, this article provides a timely update on recent activities.
We are committed to providing the best level of support to our homeowners and to the community in which we operate. Likewise, we want everyone to see, feel and taste the uplifting lifestyle here…..
In summary, our events and associated activity, over recent months, has produced some memorable highlights….
- Homeowner summer drinks
Homeowners continually enjoy a host of fun activities at Castle View. This summer was no different, epitomised by an amazing evening at our annual summer get together. The sun split the sky as homeowners gathered in our Sky Lounge for a night of fun and chat.
- U3A – University of the 3rd Age – Windsor & District
In addition to existing relationships between homeowners and U3A we have begun to facilitate more connections with this amazing organisation. We look forward to welcoming some of their members for another private event soon.
We now also welcome a U3A Rummykub group, meeting at Castle View every 4th Wednesday in the month.
We welcome further opportunities to support other U3A groups. Should any U3A representatives wish to use our facilities, please ask them to contact us.
- Educational Seminars
’An Ounce of Prevention’ was an educational event staged in the Sky Lounge, attended by potential and current homeowners. The session offered a raft of advice and support to people in later life to head-off life-critical issues.
‘Downsizing your property but Upsizing your Lifestyle’ emphasised the positive aspects of resizing through the lifestyle potential of moving into an Integrated Retirement Community, like Castle View.
- Last of the Summer Wine – 3rd October
We welcomed 47 people including our neighbours, Windsor Tennis Club, and members of U3A for a celebration of wine. The Wine Guild of the UK were on hand to help educate our palates – a very insightful night had!
We were very grateful for the terrific and very tasty support from Bev and Sharon, in the kitchen, Colin, Janet, Melanie and our external wine-tasting team. A fantastic evening!
- Ageing Well Expo. in Maidenhead Shopping Centre on 4th October
Castle View joined 22 other ‘wellness and lifestyle’ companies to present what we do best to the residents of Maidenhead. We were briefly joined by the Mayor of Windsor, and we presented and discussed the unique lifestyle available in an Integrated Retirement Community.
- Windsor Fringe Festival – The Kenneth Branagh Drama Award
We have spent five months supporting the Fringe in a variety of ways as they support and display a variety of creative talents.
Comprised entirely of older and retired volunteers, we have sponsored their drama awards to include:
- Provision of rehearsal space (in the Sky Lounge) for their actors and directors – open to homeowners to attend
- Fringe Committee meetings at Castle View
- Supporting the Fringe at local external events
- Advertisement in awards programme at The Old Court Artspace, Windsor, as plays performed.
- ‘Mens Matters’ – includes an invitation to the male homeowners of Castle View and any male friends outside
Castle View has made connections with this local charity organising social events for older men in Windsor and Maidenhead. We will be hosting a group of approximately 15 ‘Mens Matters’ members in our Sky Lounge 18th November
- Connections with local Solicitors and Wealth management offices
We continue to converse with multiple companies to explore how we may work together in supporting people in later life.
Parfitt Cresswell solicitors have already staged two events with us in the Sky Lounge, in which we supported their presentations to professional advisers. This has seen us create further advocates for retirement living and Castle View amongst IFA’s, finance / legal professionals, and Occupational Therapists, all supporting older people.
- Digital content – video, audio, online, print and broadcast media
In an effort to enhance our online content we have interviewed homeowners, retirement living support professionals, experts in ‘resizing’ and the fascinating world of auctioneers. Many of these can be found on our YouTube page.
We have also given radio interviews and written blogs, all designed to engage both potential homeowners and their adult children.
Keep an eye on our Events Calendar for details of future events. Likewise, should you wish to consideer Castle View as a host for a future event, please check out our commitment to community.
