“The weather outside was frightful but the Hub was so delightful…”
This year’s Christmas Market took place on one of the coldest, wettest days of the season – but you wouldn’t have known it from the atmosphere inside. The Hub was full of chat, laughter and that lovely background buzz that comes when neighbours, friends and families all come together.
Visitors warmed up with hot drinks and homemade cakes before wandering around the stalls, which were packed with seasonal gifts, crafts and decorations from local makers. The tombola proved hard to resist, with a fantastic range of prizes up for grabs, all carefully organised and beautifully presented by Homeowner Chris and team.
We are very grateful for the generosity shown by our community. Prizes were kindly donated by our Homeowners, Castle View and local supporters including Daniels of Windsor, Temptations, Waterstones and Windsor & Eton Brewery. Our Castle View Cookbooks were also on sale to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, while money from the refreshments stall and tombola is going to our lead charity, Windsor Mencap.
A real highlight of the day was welcoming a group of Windsor Mencap Service Users to the market. They threw themselves into the fun, trying their luck on the tombola and choosing handmade Christmas gifts for friends and family – just as many of our residents and visitors did too.
Thanks to everyone who baked, donated, volunteered, ran a stall or simply came along and supported the day. A huge thanks as well to all our exhibitors, including ThreadsApart, Tropic Skincare, Earth Angel, Light of Lima, Penriver, Christine McClelland and Julia Dutton, for bringing such beautiful gifts and ideas to the market.
Together, the event has already raised more than £800 for Windsor Mencap, with a little more still to be added.
