Welcome to my latest update from behind the scenes at Castle View – it has been a busy few weeks here, with plenty of homeowner involvement, a touch of tartan, and some brilliant news about the town we are lucky enough to call home…
Listening to the people who live here
One of the most important parts of my role is making sure we listen properly to the people who actually live at Castle View. Recently, we brought homeowners together to talk specifically about how we communicate – what works, what doesn’t, and what could be better.
It was a very enjoyable session, and a valuable one. We talked about everything from marketing to newsletters to emails, social media and ongoing support (such as cooking, cleaning, or even care should homeowners need it).
For me, it was also a reminder that our homeowners are not just residents; they are key stakeholders in how Castle View runs and feels. Taking the time to ask, listen and act on their ideas will continue to be a priority this year we actually meet again in early March.
A taste of Scotland for Burns Night
January also brought one of the most colourful evenings in our social calendar: Burns Night. Over the years this has become something of a tradition at Castle View, and this year was no exception, with tartan on show, poetry, laughter and plenty of good food.
From the ceremonial arrival of the haggis to the toasts and recitations, there is always a great mix of humour and warmth. The best part, though, is seeing homeowners and guests relax into the evening, share stories and sing along where they recognise the words.

Windsor: a great place to grow old – and to work
Many of you will already have seen the recent news that Windsor has been voted the best place in England to grow old, it is something we are genuinely proud of.
For our homeowners, it is a reassuring endorsement of the town they have chosen – or stayed in – for this stage of life, with its mix of green space, culture, history and good transport links.
For us as a team, it underlines what we feel day to day: that this is not just one of the best places to retire, but also one of the best places to work. Being able to look out towards the Castle, walk into town, and feel part of a wider community is a privilege we do not take for granted.
Drive It Day returns
Looking ahead, I am delighted to say that one of our most popular events is coming back: Drive It Day will return to Castle View this spring, for the 5th year running! This is always a highlight – a chance to see an array of classic and interesting cars up close, chat to enthusiastic owners and enjoy a lively atmosphere around the building.
For homeowners, it brings something a bit different to the doorstep: memories of cars from years gone by, the smell of polish and petrol, and an excuse to invite family or friends along for the day.
For visitors, it offers a welcoming introduction to Castle View and a glimpse of life here beyond the brochure. We will share full details nearer the time, but it is definitely one to mark on the calendar.
Keeping the conversation going
As ever, these blogs are only one part of the conversation. The real heart of Castle View lies in the chats in the lounge, the suggestions dropped into conversation, and the willingness of homeowners to share what is working – and what is not.
