We were absolutely delighted to welcome representatives from the Windsor Lions to Castle View Retirement Living recently, as they visited our community to collect a generous donation for their vital foodbank initiative.
This wonderful contribution was made possible thanks to the remarkable kindness and generosity of our homeowners and dedicated staff, who came together to support those in need within our wider community.
The Windsor Lions are an inspiring group of volunteers and a proud part of the world’s largest community service organisation. With roots in Windsor dating back to 1961, the Lions have spent more than six decades raising funds and offering practical support to those less fortunate, both locally and further afield. Over the years, their tireless efforts have raised over £3 million through a variety of community events, fundraising activities, and charitable initiatives.
These funds have been distributed to a wide range of causes, including youth projects, senior support groups, and essential services such as foodbanks, which play a crucial role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families.
Importance of Foodbanks
Foodbanks are a lifeline for many people, providing immediate relief and ensuring access to nutritious food and basic necessities during difficult times. Donations like those collected at Castle View Retirement Living help to fill shelves with much-needed supplies, from staple foods to items that are often overlooked, such as toiletries and baby formula.
In addition to food donations, financial contributions are essential for covering operational costs and purchasing items that are rarely donated but urgently needed. Every act of giving, no matter how small, helps to fight hunger, reduce poverty, and foster a stronger, more compassionate community.
A huge thank you!
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Castle View who contributed to this important cause, as well as to the Windsor Lions for their ongoing commitment and for taking the time to visit us. The donation was formally handed over by our General Manager, Kevin Rose, and Events Coordinator, Jackie Couzens, who were both proud to represent our community in supporting this meaningful initiative.
At Castle View Retirement Living, we believe in the power of community and the importance of looking out for one another. Together, with partners like the Windsor Lions, we are making a real and lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you once again to everyone involved for your generosity, compassion, and community spirit.
