Castle View Retirement Living in Windsor welcomed more than 45 classic cars for its fifth “coffee & cakes” Drive It Day event on Sunday 26 April, raising £600 for NSPCC Childline.
Tying in with the national Drive It Day, an eclectic collection of vehicles arrived throughout the morning, from an immaculately restored 1928 Morris Cowley – the oldest car on show – to a rare 2003 Porsche 911 40 Jahre (40th Anniversary edition). Enthusiasts also enjoyed seeing two Jaguar XK120s, two MG TDs from 1951 and 1952, a Colt Celeste and a Ford Cortina 1600E among many other cherished classics.
Owners travelled from across southern England, including West London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Surrey, to join the event. Homeowners at Castle View laid on a tempting spread of cakes, along with hot dogs, tea and coffee, all sold in exchange for donations to NSPCC Childline.
“It was such a great atmosphere,” said one returning visitor. “We love coming here and there’s always a wonderful selection of vehicles – different makes, models and eras – a great place to spend a few hours chatting to fellow enthusiasts.”
Karl Hallows, managing director of Castle View, added: “This was the fifth year we have welcomed the classic car community to Castle View, and we were rewarded with warm, sunny weather which helped to attract over 45 really interesting cars. The enthusiasm of the owners and a large number of members of the public helped to raise much‑needed funds for the NSPCC, with our homeowners doing us proud with all the cakes they prepared and sold. The event has grown year on year and I very much look forward to welcoming everyone back again in 2027.”
