As we are all trying to improve our knowledge of wine, Waitrose last night visited Castle View to give a master class. Even our CEO Robin Hughes, learnt a thing or two!
Our night manager and handyman, Nigel, (pictured) will install our beautiful hedgehog house in the garden at Castle View for all the little 'hogs' looking for a place to hibernate.
The bird houses and tables can be viewed from the restuarant, library and reception.
A very well attended event beginning with the exploits of Kenneth Grahames Toad, Ratty Mole and Badger to Wordsworth Dickens and Blake.
A fascinating afternoon enjoyed by all.

Nearly 100 residents and friends joined us in our Sky Lounge, food, drink and friendship. Another cracking night that went off with a bang!
Castle View has just turned 1 yr old! Our first residents moved in last October and new residents are moving in every month. Everyone joined in celebrating and two residents here took delight in cutting the cake! I can confirm that noone was harmed during the cutting process!
Its pouring with rain outside, but it seems irrelevant as there is laughter inside. No cooking, no washing up, just a warm comforting Sunday lunch with good friends.
In only a few months our gardens have matured into luscious foilage and makes for a very pleasant stroll or gentle ponder on the garden benches.
To the back drop of beautiful Italian music you literally felt you were in a family run Italian restaurant, with meatballs, spaghetti and the classic Italian cocktail aperol spritz and our best selection of Italian wines.

With a varied menu Robin excelled in the kitchen but it gave him a whole new appreciation for Caz who effortlessly caters all year round. No request is ignored.
To make the most of the Autumn Karen from Royal Windsor Gardens came to Castle View yesterday to advise our residents how best to make use of their pots coming into Autumn,
Free drinks and a buffet provided by the management, has become a regular feature at Castle View. You can invite friends and family to our parties that usually happen once of every 3 months or so.
It is so lovely watching friendships flourish and to be able to invite your world into your home with catering provided!
The cakes were beautiful, such an array and tasted absoultely fabulous. The mixture of friends, relatives and residents made for such a warm lively atmostphere and finished off with a tremendous raffle.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to pull this off, baking, organising and especially to our receptionist Sue Reeves who worked tirelessy getting donations for the raffle and organising stalls.
A great job all round and for such a good cause.
Joining a group is such an easy way to make friends sharing an activity. If you go every week you can just watch the friendships grow and the things they are creating are a marvel!
Many residents learnt a new skill of Irish dancing at our Irish night. As our guests of all ages taught us how to jig, skip, hop around reception at Castle View!

Dimmed lighting, candles on the tables, flowers in hair and beautiful Spanish music tinkling in the background, for one night only the Castle View residents were transported to Spain!
With jugs of Sangria to get things going, a fantastic night was had by all.
I understand an Irish evening is planned next, better start practising my dancing!
