With the gardens in full bloom, the grounds at Castle View are looking stunning.  We have been open 18 months now and the plants and flowers are maturing beautifully.   Here is a picture taken by Chris Dufty whilst doing her laps for charity around the building.  A beautiful peacock butterfly and a bee together on the buddleja.

After a short stay with her daughter, we are thrilled to have the lovely Betty back at Castle View.  Betty is CEO, Robin Hughes' mum and was the first resident to move into Castle View.  When Betty is not sitting watching the world go by from her window, she's either drinking coffee or having lunch in the restuarant and enjoying having a chat and a laugh with the residents. Residents helped themselves to fresh fish set on a bed of ice along with salad from the servery on Tuesday evening.  All prepared by our amazing catering manager, Caz.  If fish wasn't your thing, delicious homemade lasagna was also available.  A great evening, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic food and great company!

Residents are gradually getting used to the world outside Castle View as lockdown eases, and what better way to do it than sailing along the River Thames on a beautiful sunny day! CEO, Robin Hughes is no ordinary CEO!  As soon as Kris Cruises boat hire opened, Robin grabbed the chance at taking residents for a little cruise from Windsor to Bray, and with strawberries and prosecco on board and the sun shining, there was no better way to spend the day!

Our craft and crochet group have gone Al Fresco! This fabulous weather has taken our residents outside into the garden to enjoy their craft outside rather than indoors for the first time!  There have been some wonderful items made by our residents thoughout lockdown which has kept everyone busy (there's alot of chatting that goes on aswell though!)

Our residents and staff have reached Birmingham today!  Congratulations! That means they have collectively walked 278 miles by walking laps of the Sky Lounge and the grounds.  There is still a long way to go to get to John O''Groats but everyone is keeping fit and healthy and really enjoying their daily exercise routine.  Next stop...Sheffield! Good luck!  - We have raised £971 so far for the NHS

One of our lovely residents, Pat Fairbairn turned 80 yesterday - and she doesn't look a day over 60! It must be all the good living and fun times she has at Castle View with her husband and new found friends!  The residents got together (practising social distancing) and turned our sky lounge into the Ritz for Afternoon Tea!  It was a big surprise for Pat and it was a wonderful afternoon!  Thanks to residents and to Caz, our catering manager for organising.

Resident Alan Morgan, moved into Castle View with his wife Jean in January 2019. It's been an unusal last few months but Alan has never looked so relaxed, here he is having a little wander around the grounds in the sunshine, he looks very dapper!

Residents get together every morning at 11am for coffee, complimentary pastries and a chinwag.  All of our residents look forward to their daily catch up and they never seem to run out of conversation - the Castle View family has grown even closer over lockdown with tales of intersting lives and stories of current events and activities are always high up on the conversation agenda!

Our CEO, Robin Hughes loves spending time with our residents whilst in lockdown at Castle View. All of our residents have their groceries delivered to our buggy store in front of reception. Every item is sanitised before being brought into the village to ensure all of our residents remain safe and well.  Even Robin gets involved and helped take shopping to one of our lovely resident's apartment

All our residents are currently thriving at Castle View and came out in force to wave flags, sing and gently exercise to the Andrews Sisters singing 'In the Mood'.

Lisa Fisher, our Village Manager, planned a whole day of events to celebrate the momentous occasion. After decorating the building with bunting, with a bit of resident help!, there was singing, dancing, prosecco, cream teas and finally joining the Queen by singing a long to 'We'll Meet Again....' in our fabulous Sky Lounge.

It is wonderful watching the blue tits building their nest in one of our nesting boxes.  We can't wait for the chicks to come along! we are attracting more and more birds at Castle View, you can hear them all singing on our early morning walks

Colin dished up a fabulous spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread, whilst our village manager, Lisa prepared the side salad and dessert. Residents then headed up to the Sky Lounge to watch Oklahoma.  As one large household, we are fortunate enough to be able to continue with all our activities, practising social distancing but still enjoying all our fantastic communal facilities

Our goal is to complete by 15th September by walking laps of the grounds and the Sky Lounge Terrace.  We have already raised over £600 for the NHS - so not only are residents and staff keeping fit and healthy, we are raising money for all the amazing work the NHS staff are doing.  Well done everyone!

We are over half way already and only started on 20th April!  Everyone is really enjoying getting out and walking around the grounds.  It's a great way to keep active and also raise money for the wonderful NHS staff.

Our gin loving residents each brought their favourite gin to gin club and exchanged their knowledge on each one, trying with different mixers and indulging in nibbles. There is always a smile and a giggle from our residents and that's before the gin!

This week, we sang 'Our Way', 'Que Sera Sera' and 'Bring me Sunshine'  followed by an Exercise routine with Fionah.  All of our residents are in very high spirits as always and this added bit of fun and energy gives everyone even more of a boost!
